by on January 6, 2009

It is my pleasure to pass on the latest news from Congressman Chris Lee:

Congressman Chris Lee Sworn-In, Pledges to Fight for Jobs, Fiscal Responsibility

New U.S. Representative Announces Open Houses for District Offices

WASHINGTON – Congressman Chris Lee was sworn-in today to represent New York’s 26th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“It is an honor and a privilege to represent the people of Western New York,” Congressman Lee said. “I am prepared to fight every day for new jobs, lower taxes, and real accountability for the hard-earned money Western New Yorkers send to Washington. For starters, we need a sensible economic recovery package that makes the right investments to spur future growth and provides much-needed tax relief for working families and small business owners.

We also need Washington to stop treating fiscal responsibility like an afterthought. I will work with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to control federal spending and hold Washington accountable for every decision it makes.”

After being sworn-in on the House floor, Congressman Lee will be joined by his family for a ceremonial swearing-in in Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) office.

“We face significant challenges right now, and I am ready to work with anyone who is committed to getting our economy moving again, regardless of what party he or she belongs to,” Congressman Lee added. “Changing the way we do business in Washington will require a sustained bipartisan commitment to forward-looking solutions.”

Congressman Lee marked the beginning of the 111th Congress by hosting an open house and reception for constituents in his Washington, DC office. He also announced that the district offices in Williamsville and Greece, which are already up and running, will hold open houses on Saturday, January 24. Constituents are encouraged to stop by on that day, meet the Congressman and his district staff, and share their views on how we can create jobs and improve the quality of life in our area.

“Our doors are always open to our constituents; listening to their concerns and addressing their needs is our highest priority,” Congressman Lee said.

It is nice to see Chris Lee starting as the new congressman for the 26th district. It was a hard fought race that thankfully went the right way. HE will have is work cut for him, and I wish him luck. I hope to continue providing updates on Chris LEe, and provide reader of The Buffalo Bean with more exclusive interviews like we did during the campaign. Stay tuned.

And be sure to check out Chris Lee’s new congressional website.
