Gillibrand's Left-Wing Makeover

by on April 20, 2009

Michael Goodwin at the New York Daily News reports that Kirsten Gillibrand, the conservative Democrat appointed by Governor Paterson to fill Hillary Clinton’s vacant Senate seat, is learning that diversity is not a virtue of her party, as she is flushing her moderate and conservative views down the toilet to appease the DNC and the interest groups that support them.

From the moment Kirsten Gillibrand was named to replace Hillary Clinton in the Senate, Democratic rivals and advocacy groups criticized her as insufficiently liberal for this deep blue state. They need not worry any longer.

In a makeover that is as disturbing as it is rapid, Gillibrand is turning herself into an über-liberal zealot. In less than three months, she has gone from a center-right representative of an upstate district to a supporter of every position embraced by the national party and its favored leftist interest groups.

Looks like Gillibrand left her principles behind when she went to Washington. I guess she did what she needed to do to fit in.
